Patrick Demarchelier captured over 100 incredible gowns in a tremendous photo essay of Dior’s couture story.
The house of Dior was founded in Paris by designer Christian Dior in 1946. Dior became one of the most revered names in fashion, the archetype of the Parisian couture house and famous for launching the “New Look,” Christian Dior’s landmark first collection that marked a change in women’s dress after the Second World War. Christian Dior died while on holiday in Montecatini, Italy on 23 October 1957.
The new Dior Couture book includes designs by Christian Dior himself as well as those created by his successors Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and John Galliano.
